School bus driver clean record 33 years.june 24 2019 had a right knee replacementaugust 2nd given prescription for pain oxycodone.60 pills I had 34 pills left did not finish it was taking Tylenolphysical was to expire the 25th of Augustso I went for physical 2 weeks prior.doctor would not give me a physical even though I gave him the remaining pills to discard.told me the 16th of September I can go back for physicalso school started and now it is past the 25th of August.so now am I going to loose my cdl.or what should I dono o,e at work which is a board of ed. Knows what I should do. The thing is my medical doctor that did my knee replacement released me the day before I had his letter with me. Then I was going for my physical the next dayand a week after PT released me alsothey said my degree range was amazingthis doctor should not be allowed to perform our very important physicals for our very very important jobs.33 years of loving my job so much I would never take meds. And go to work and jeopardize my kids on the busi take my job seriously when it come to taking care of other people’s childrenwell thank you very much. I carry a class c, with passenger endorsement commercial drivers license.
I have maintained the requirements of a physical and medical examination as well as renewed the fee for a commercial; driver over the past 8 years. I ONLY carry this license in the event I lose my current job and become unemployed. I have yet to work in transportation using my license however, I still pay the fees of renewing the medical every 2 years and the commercial license every 4 years.
The cost of the medical exam every 2 years has become a financial burden, especially since I am NOT working in the industry. Is there anyway I can maintain my commercial license without taking a medical exam. I read that the medical exam is necessary only if you carry a P “passenger” endorsement. Should I drop my endorsement for now, to avoid paying for the physical 2x every four years? I don’t mind retaking the passenger exam alone, when or if I ever become employed and need the endorsement or certification. Also, If i do drop the Passenger endorsement, which CDL holder self certification category do I choose.
Again I have never held employment yet. When i normal renew I select category #3. I am currently working in the field of telemarketing and this commercial license has been maintained in the event of unemployment. Your response is appreciated and will save me financial heartache. When it was time to renew my license i was told by my DMV could not renew my CDL.
After speaking to the person and this person renew me for a regular license but i was told i have a year to get my CDL back. I have had my CDL for over 30 yrs but wouldn’t you know i need it for my part time job now. Was this person telling me the truth about getting my CDL back with out retesting.
Please let me know if this is correct. Thank you for all your help in this matter, One thing i was told if i don’t get my CDL back i could loose my job.
Again thank you for your help. NJMVC stinks! I haven’t driven a rig in quite awhile but still want to keep my CDL so I have something to fall back on if I become unemployed. Now they’re basically saying to us ” Use it or lose it!” Why? It’s as if the government doesn’t want us to have anything anymore! Wake up you Goverment Officals!
The unemployment rate has not improved! It’s because people have exhausted their benefits and this new law isn’t helping! What difference should it make if someone has a CDL and hasen’t driven in awhile? There are refresher courses available through most trucking companies but if you take away our CDLs, what are we supposed to do? Oh, yeah, that’s right you can pay $125 + to get a CDL permit and start over again! Thank’s alot! Greedy B.ards!
I have class A with utility com and need to operate vehicle on call outs and everyday work. Got med card and copy to co. Everything goin fine then i recieved letter saying my commercial license downgraded? Never recieved anything in mail before downgrade. It says to reinstate go to mvc with med card and self cert paper. Did that at manahawkin mvc they said to mail? They didnt know if they could help.
Now they are closed till mon. If i im needed to work i can not because they didnt make sure i recieved letter.
Maybe cert mail would be better!!!! This cant be right! Never had to do this company always did. Again never recieved anything!! Thanks again!
You can always trust the Government just ask the indians and whales! And Blue collar Americans payin for everybody else! Happy Easter! If you thin that is bad I faxed my physical in after being told they had no record of them having it. I was trying to put my haz- mat endorsement on my license after fsxing it in I waited two weeks, returned to DMV and was told I could not put my haz- mat on because they still had not received it I had my physical on me so they sent it to Trenton. Now let me tell you Trenton had no record of me passing the test for haz-mat. Finally after several hours Trenton informs them that they had found where I had pass the test, but I had to purchase a permit.
A permit I had my cdl for two years. When I asked why I had to purchase another permit they told be it was because I was supposed to get everything off the permit while i had It we are talking two years later. I f you finally got records say I pass. I thought it would be easy to just give me my endorsement. No that us not the case I had to buy another permit.
I sm soooo confused. I never received a letter in the mail saying I had to send a copy of my med card to Trenton. The only way I found out I had to was when the doctor that gave me the physical told me I had to send it in.
So today I called the 1-888 # for the NJ DMV to get the address where I have to send it. The women that I spoke with was very very disrespectful and absolutely RUDE to me she rambled on about some paper I have to send in along with my med card. I asked her if she could e mail or send me a copy of this “form” so I can get this process finished and her response was ” NO you can go on the website and print it out ” CLICK!!!!! No address no web site no clue smh but guess who’s fault it will be if this isn’t done in a timely manor??
Yup you guessed it MINE thanks for the help. @ShawnThanks for visiting and sharing your experience.DOTPhysicalDOCTORS website is not affiliated with any state or federal agency.
Drivers have shared their frustration with us about these new regulations. The challenge is the process differs from state to state. We published these State Requirement information pages to help as much as we can find available information. There is a download link for the self-certification form in the information above and instructions on how to submit it for NJ.
Hope this helps. I just received a letter threatening license suspension due to my medical exam being expired or my self-certification not being returned. My medical exam is still good for another 13 months, and I mailed them a copy the day after the physical was done in July 2013. I returned the completed self-certification and mailed ANOTHER copy of my physical earlier this year, the day after it was mailed to me. I followed every instruction and rule, and I’m still being punished.
Not to mention, where are my mishandled papers going? They have personally protected information like name, address, ssn, dl number, etc. This is a case of identity theft waiting to happenI absolutely don’t trust MVC with this information anymore. Hi, I am a diesel mechanic, I have always had a class A CDL and I need this to perform my duties. I have also in hard times used my class A CDL to fall back on when I needed a part time job. It is then that I would obtain a medical certificate for driving part time or full time, I am now not driving a commercial vehicle part time or full time but want to retain my CDL class A if I should need it.
What do I need to do and why the change?Thank YouDennis CashinP.S. The letter DMV sent me for self certification had a wrong DL number on it form over 20 yeas ago.
